Children's HospitalDenver, COLighting Retrofit
Project DescriptionFinancial Energy retrofitted over 7,000 fixtures in the 450,000 square foot facility, saving Children's Hospital approximately $123,000 in energy costs per year. In addition to the fixtures the exits were also retrofit with more energy efficient components. This retrofit removed about 1,300 PCB ballast’s. These ballast’s were sent to a disposal company for incineration and recycling of non-PCB components. Financial Energy replaced existing T-12 lamps and standard/efficient core/coil ballast’s with Osram and GE T-8 lamps and electronic ballast’s (Osram, Magnetek, EBT and Advance). High use incandescent bulbs (60-100W) were replaced with 2-piece compact fluorescent bulbs (Lumatech, 13W). The $300,000 retrofit will reduce the peak demand by 413 kW in this hospital complex. Financial Energy applied DSM rebate funds through a contract it has with Public Service Company of Colorado which lowered the payback to an average of 1.8 years for the complex.
This project also took advantage of local utility rebate programs that reduced the payback to less than 2 years. |
