Project DescriptionOver a 5 year period, Financial Energy performed lighting upgrades to multiple V.A. Hospitals three locations; Bronx, NY, Salt Lake City, UT, and Denver, CO. In total, Financial Energy provided the retrofits for over 35,500 fixtures and 2,100 lighting control devices. The projects provided for the removal of existing T-12 lamps with standard ballasts and replacing them with T-8 lamps with electronic ballasts. The retrofits included delamping fixtures from 4 and 3 lamps to 2 lamps (with reflector) and tandem wiring of 2 lamp fixtures. The retrofits also included installation of compact fluorescent and halogen lamps to replace incandescents and installation of high pressure sodium lamps as replacements for mercury vapor lamps. Additionally, we converted 6 lamp fixtures to 4 lamp, 8-foot fixtures to 4-foot, and replaced incandescent exit signs with new LED exit signs. These improvements allowed for standardization of materials, reduced energy consumption, improved comfort and reduced maintenance requirements. Financial Energy worked with an EPA approved recycling and incineration company to dispose of over 55,900 lamps and over 18,100 ballasts.
