Lighting Retrofit

After: New T8 fluorescent fixtures improved light quality and increased light levels

Project Description

Financial Energy retrofitted over 680 fixtures in the 145,000 square foot facility, saving Scott System approximately $23,500 in energy costs per year. In addition to the fixtures, the exits were also retrofit with more energy efficient components.

Financial Energy replaced existing T-12 lamps and standard/efficient core/coil ballast’s with T-8 lamps and electronic ballast’s. Fixtures containing 4 T12 lamps were delamped to 2 T8 lamps and a reflector, and 8-foot fixtures were converted to 4-foot. One-lamp and two lamp 400W mercury vapor industrial fixtures were replaced with 6-lamp T8 highbay fixtures. High use incandescent bulbs were replaced with compact fluorescent bulbs. The retrofit will reduce the peak demand by 64 kW.

Financial Energy provided labor to install the energy efficient upgrades, while the materials were purchased by a third party contractor, therefore the total project cost is an estimate.

This project also took advantage of local utility rebate programs that decreased the payback to about 1.5 years.
