Adams Twelve Five Star School DistrictThornton, COLighting Retrofit
Project DescriptionFinancial Energy performed a comprehensive lighting audit for 18 schools and then completed the lighting retrofit and installation. The project included the retrofit of over 8,400 fixtures. This project provided for the removal of existing T-12 lamps with standard ballasts and replacing them with T-8 lamps with electronic ballasts. The retrofits included delamping fixtures from 4 lamps to 2 lamps (with reflectors) and tandem wiring of 1 and 2 lamp fixtures. The retrofits also included installation of compact fluorescent lamps to replace incandescents. Additionally, we converted 8-foot fixtures to 4-foot and replaced incandescent exit signs with new LED exits. Old U-lamp fluorescent fixtures were removed and replaced with new 2-foot, straight-tube fluorescent fixtures. Financial Energy also converted 4-foot high-output fixtures to standard 4-foot T8. These improvements allowed for standardization of materials, reduced energy consumption, improved comfort and reduced maintenance requirements. Financial Energy worked with an EPA approved disposal company to recycle over 18,200 lamps and over 3,500 ballasts. The project was divided into multiple phases over a 3 year period. The information below represents all of the phases combined.
This project also took advantage of local utility rebate programs that reduced the total project cost and total payback. |
